How humidifiers are used


As web offset printing machines release large amounts of air from the dryer, it is very costly to keep the printing area humidified.
Since the problems with electrostatic mostly occurre in the folding and stacker / bundler areas it is possible to humidify just there to significantly reduce problems.
Due to the Dry Fog technology the AKIMist®”E” can be installed very closely to the target area and "spot humidify" only the problem areas without wetting.

The AKIMist®”E” sprays Dry Fog, a very uniformly fine mist of a Sauter mean droplet diameter of 7.5 μm, which allows for it to be located close to the target area without causing any wetting.

Electrostatic charge problems increase substantially in humidity lower than 45%RH (20℃). - It depends on the amount of air exchange, but generally, one AKIMist®”E” can raise the humidity between roll units by (about) ~ 10%

Why doesn't dry fog get wet?


Small bubbles/water droplets do not wet anything because they bounce back from the surface they touch. As it surface tension is high, compare to a bigger bubble/water droplet, it will not burst and wet the environment.
 
Dry Fog is a very fine fog with an average mean droplet diameter of 10 μm or less. Therefore, the fog sprayed from our AKIJet® nozzles will never burst and wet objects when spraying in a close room, above machine and operators.
